Panaque ID
Could you help to ID this small Panaque.
It came from southern Venezuela. ![]() |
Hi,
it could be L2, maybe L403 too! Best Regards Frank |
Hi!
L2 is from Brazil. Probably LDA67 Panaqolus aff. maccus Bests, Chris |
Hi,
it doesn't look likes for me as an maccus.. Best Regards Frank |
Hi
Das ist kein LDA67 Panaqolus aff. maccus. Gruß Ralf |
Yes, I also think about L002, L403 or Panaque sp. "Peru".
But as far I know this fish came from Southern part of Venezuela. And L002 and L403 are from Brazir, Para (too far from Venezuela). The distribution of Panaque sp. "Peru" is closer. |
It is not my fish. And the owner of this fish says that it is P.maccus. But I don't think that it could be P.maccus.

Hi,
i can't believe the origin. Who says that it comes from Venezuela? Do you have the real location, where this individuum was caught? Until now there are no tiger plecos known from Venezuela, just from brazil and peru. Cheers Andi |
The owner of this fish is my friend from Kiev. His name Igor Sheremetyev
Here is the thread about this panaque from facebook. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater There is written that it was exported from Colombia, but when I met and spoke to him once again about this fish he told me that it was exported from Venezuela through Colombia. |
Hi Alex, i agree with you, that this individuum isn't a member from the panaqolus maccus group. It is a member of the tiger pleco group, but until now this group is just known from the amazon basin, and not from the orinoco basin, where the members of the panaqolus maccus group are the only known panaqolus. please check the origin. Maybe the importer or wholesaler has mixed them with some other panaqolus from another import.
Cheers Andi |
