Hi catfish,
I've seen this kind of ancistrus before in two german aquariums, lengths from 17-19cm cm. I honstly don't know what kind of ancistrus this could be, because they look quite familiar with the common bristlenose. I've heard a lot of theories about these fishes...maybe it is somekind of a mixture of different ancistrus' in european aquariums....or it is somekind of an unknown ancistrus-species. Sorry, I couln't help much.... With best regards, Anja |
Thank you.

Hi,
I think, without daclaration of the exact origin it´s not possible to determine our Ancistrus. Really big for a "common" Ancistrus cf dolichopterus (but maybe, Marion has also a common Ancistrus with 18cm). L-43 reaches f.e. a total lenght > 20cm |
Hi Walter,
I find only this one page -Ancistrus spp. ""Bussy Pleco", where is Ancistrus similar to female on my picture. But on other pages is L156 about 10-12 cm only. :( L43 is 20-25 cm, Ancistrus dolichopterus - import from nature - 20 cm and Ancistrus "punctatus" about 25-30 cm, but they are black with little white spots. Origin of female on my picture is not known. |
