with just enough silicone i cover the sides i need to scotch...
i place the glass where i need it...press it slightly so the silicon gets pressed out on both sides. after i spray a bit of soapwater on the whole siliconeand the glass. all wet incl. the Putty. this set alowes you to get any shape of the silicone after it's been moved over it!! just press is firm onto both sides in the corner and pull it fluently over the silicon part...maybe u need so repeat the whole thing...again dont forget the soap water! otherwise you'll get a mess that will be programed in advance. you can even use your fingers if you need special shaped silicone!
the wood is ready...
i use massive stones as a basement. the arrows shot the spaced that are important for the fishes to pass well. very important is it to have enough space in the back...between the stones and the glass...if cat's fight the weaker animal needs to have a chance to escape. if there are closed corners they might loose more than the fight! or they can squeeze themselves so badly that there is no chance to move backwards= dead!
here you can compare to the pic above...exits and hiding places are now covered. the stome that covers anything below must be thick enough to hold the weight you built on top of it!! wood might by better than more stones! = dead

piling up the wood can be done to look nice or it can be done to suit well for the fish!!! use the second one...if you're good ...both will be achieved
in this case ...i'm more or less happy with the first point...but there's enough places to hide and escape! you see the hiding places

i do not but any caves in for now..important is that the cats feel well. as baryancistrus in general dont really use a lot of caves i think if there is a femals and a suitable male and caves will be added...they might do it straight afterwards as the females usually want to get read of their full belly. so they will aroach the males soon as they are ready...but first i will check them out to see who is who...and how they behave...
