>>Proposal 41
Hypancistrus zebra (Zebra pleco)
Proposal: Include in Appendix I
Proponent: Brazil
[...]
Findings
The Secretariat notes that there is no indication that the size of the wild population of Hypancistrus zebra is
small. Whilst the species has a restricted area of distribution, it does not seem to exhibit any of the aggravating
factors included in sub-paragraphs i) to iv) of paragraph B in Annex 1 to Resolution Conf. 9.24 (Rev. CoP17),
nor is there reliable evidence that it has undergone marked decline in the wild.
Based on the information available at the time of writing, Hypancistrus zebra does not meet the biological
criteria in Resolution Conf. 9.24 (Rev. CoP17) Annex 1 for its inclusion in Appendix I.
Recommendation
The Secretariat recommends that this proposal be rejected.<<
